Freight Flex Partners With Highway to Strengthen Fraud Prevention & Streamline Carrier Onboarding

Freight Flex enhances agent confidence and operational efficiency by integrating Highway’s Carrier Identity Engine.

Freight Flex, the fastest-growing freight brokerage agency program in the U.S., and Highway, the solution that first brought the concept of Carrier Identity™ to the transportation industry, have announced a partnership to protect Freight Flex’s high-value, high-touch shipments from fraud. With Highway in place, Freight Flex can reduce instances of fraud while improving the carrier onboarding experience, empowering its agents to operate with increased confidence and efficiency.

The partnership was driven by Freight Flex’s proactive response to a recent theft incident in which a fraudulent actor acquired a legitimate carrier and stole a load. As a result, Freight Flex sought to enhance its fraud prevention systems. By integrating Highway’s Carrier Identity Engine, Freight Flex ensures that any changes in carrier ownership and other crucial details are flagged, preventing potential fraud before booking.

“The world of fraud is a kaleidoscope; as soon as you think you have it all figured out, the world turns, and a new threat emerges,” said Reed Rivers, President at Freight Flex. “We want to adapt in real-time, and the only way to do this is with a partner whose core business is focused on the next threat. That’s Highway to us.”

Freight Flex agents will now benefit from a centralized system that streamlines the carrier onboarding process. Rather than using a manual approach to fraud prevention that requires checking multiple websites and applications, Flex Freight’s agents can now use Highway’s automated tools to ensure that only trusted carriers meeting the highest standards get onboarded. The integration automates the verification of carrier credentials, reducing the burden on Freight Flex’s compliance team while giving agents the peace of mind that every carrier is vetted and reliable.

Additionally, agents will enjoy access to specialized equipment and certifications for carriers capable of handling TSA-compliant shipments, further enhancing service offerings for high-value shipments.

“We believe in fostering trust and transparency within the freight industry,” said Michael Caney, Chief Commercial Officer at Highway. “Our partnership with Freight Flex is another step toward creating a secure, fraud-free ecosystem for freight brokers and their customers.”

Freight Flex plans to deepen its integration with Highway in the coming months. The company is in the process of integrating its TMS with Highway to roll out rate confirmation verification, bolstering its ability to avoid fraudulent activities like double brokering. Freight Flex has also benefited from Highway’s data through its payment partner, TriumphPay, which helped avoid fraudulent payments by flagging suspected double brokers.
